Applications
Aztech prevailing torque locknuts resist rotation
due to a self contained locking feature. Deflected threads or
a nylon insert in the locknut interfere with mating bolt threads,
and the resulting friction causes the lock.
To function properly, the locking feature must
engage fully formed threads. A new application must allow for
bolt threads of sufficient length so that starting threads protrude
beyond the nut's locking element.
As the locknut's deformed threads are assembled
with standard form bolt threads, it is possible that one or both
may be damaged. Damage can be minimized by selecting locknuts
and mating bolts of compatible or similar strength grades. Removal
Torque values tend to decline with each installation. The rate
of decline varies with our different locknut products.
All-metal locknuts have few envrionmental limitations.
Many of these locknuts, long thought to be proprietary items,
are now available from stock, eliminating the need for large manufacturing
minimums and long lead times.
We are able to cross reference other manufacturers
part numbers and quote a locknut that is comparable in performance.
