Nylon insert locknuts are produced by forming and tapping nuts that include a tubular feature on top that receives a nylon ring. The tubular top is crimped to capture and hold the ring from spinning while the mating part self threads into the nylon during assembly. The nylon ring size and crimping process to secure the ring must be controlled to tight tolerances.

Applications

Thick Hex N12 Nylon Insert locknuts are a specialty component for applications where exceptional proof load is required and/or the need to easily and quickly adjust the nut location with hand wenches. Nylon Insert Locknuts are less damaging to mating threads, but have lower heat limitations and over time the nylon develops memory and prevailing torque erodes.
